Frequently Asked Questions

Where are our hats made?

Our hats are manufactured both overseas and in Mexico. Please contact store@sandiegohat.com or call (888) 868-0588 if you have any additional questions.

Why did my free shipping go away after a discount?

We only allow one discount to be applied per order.

This is designed to save you the most money! If you have an alternate discount code that would save you more than the shipping cost, you can enter that to replace the free shipping.

Unfortunately, you are not able to combine free shipping with another discount. If you order over $75, free shipping will automatically be applied. However, your subtotal must be over $75 after a discount.

What carrier’s do we use and how do you know which one my package will be delivered through?

Our system automatically generates the carrier based on your location. We don't know which carrier will be used until the order ships.

What is UPF?

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric with a rating of 50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through. This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation exposure significantly, because only 2 percent of the UV rays will get through.

What's the difference between UPF and SPF?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and is the rating you're familiar with for sunscreens and other sun-protective products. It measures the amount of time it takes for sun-exposed skin to redden, while UPF measures the amount of UV radiation that penetrates a fabric and reaches the skin. The material is not treated with a chemical.

Why are San Diego Hat Co. UPF hats so special?

In addition to being a practical and fully functional way to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UV rays, San Diego Hat Co. doesn’t forget the importance of a fashion element to their designs.
