Eva Catherine - Summer Hat Trends with San Diego Hat Company

Hey beauties! Welcome back to my blog. I know it's been awhile since I've posted, but I have a fun article here for you today. Let's chat about Summer outfit planning! When styling, my mind immediately goes to linen, floppy hats, woven beach bags, and one piece swim suits. I just love the rich textures the go into easy-breezy Summer looks. You all know how much I love my wide brim felt hats, but during these scorching months I like to swap them out for a more weather friendly option. San Diego Hat Company has such an amazing selection of hats and I am so excited to share my top 5 favorites with you!

Can we just talk about how adorable this little bow is?! The SDHC Women's Ultrabraid Back Knot Floppy’s design is SO unique. You can really let a fishtail braid or intricate bun shine with this little visual detail. This beauty is UPF 50, totally adjustable since it comes in one size, and is earth friendly - made of 75% paper! For $49, I think it’s a steal. Snatch it up while you can.

STYLIST TIP:

I love to style this hat with a neutral printed dress or jumpsuit, with gold accessories and a straw bag. This would also pair wonderfully with any colored swimsuit, since it is a neutral toned accessory. I HIGHLY recommend picking this up for all your Summer travels - even if its just a little staycation.

Summer is here and it’s time to soak up the sun. For those fortunate enough to spend these beautiful sunny days outdoors - while social distancing, duh - a sun hat will keep you from overheating and protect you from sunburn. The SDHC Unisex El Campo Ultrabraided Sun Hat is UPF 50, earth friendly (made out of 75% paper!) and 100% affordable. For $46, you can’t go wrong. I love that the El Campo features an inner stretch band for better fit. This baby is meant to be shared, I know my fiancé will be stealing this one from me during our beach trips!

STYLIST TIP:

During this photoshoot, I love how it paired with a gorgeous red play dress. You can dress it up or down, and it is truly versatile. I can picture this hat as the quintessential vacation accessory. From a tropical destination trip, to a weekend in Palm Springs, you can’t go wrong with this one. I personally think the chin strap is chic, but if it isn’t your cup of tea, I recommend tucking it into the lining of the hat and it will be out of sight.

I have always been drawn to crochet, so you can imagine my excitement when I was introduced to this style. The intricate design casts the dreamiest shadows across your face when you stand underneath the sun. I adore the scalloped edge - it adds just the right amount of sweetness! SDHC Women's Crochet Hat w/ Scalloped Edge is 100% cotton and 100% ready to be rolled up and packed for your next get away!

STYLIST TIP:

When styling a white or cream hat, I tend to keep my looks totally monotone and stick with an all white & cream ensemble. Especially in the summer!

Okay, hear me out on this one. I used to think visors were tacky - and a fashion no-no unless you were Serena Williams or a housewife taking up golf, but I stand corrected. I am 100% here for the visor trend. The SDHC Women's Mixed Braid Visor with Velcro features their signature mixed braid, and is perfect for throwing into your overnight bag for a quick trip to Palm Springs (it folds up and is packing friendly!) I love it's velcro closure, because I'm always struggling to find the right fit and this alleviates that stress. Its' 4in brim is UPF 50, so you can hang out by the pool and keep your beautiful face protected from the suns harmful rays.

STYLIST TIP:

Visors mix fashion & function and keep you looking chic. I love them because they holds your hair in place and keep your bangs from blowing around in the wind. Throw your hair in a braid, messy bun or low chignon and you’re ready to go. When it comes to pairing your visor with an outfit, I recommend athleisure, resort wear, and of course athletic ensembles.

I love SDHC’s attention to detail. Traveling with hats has always been tough for me, so I really appreciate how they have made their designs able to survive and thrive, even when being rolled up and thrown in a suitcase. In fact, the Women’s Ultrabraid Packable Sun Brim Hat was made to be rolled up with its leather snap tab closure :)

STYLIST TIP:

The subtle texture of the Ultrabraid Packable Sun Brim Hat looks STUNNING paired with outfits with rich texture. From a linen sun dress to a silky sarong, this style will become a staple in your summer 2020 wardrobe.
